Day 134 – 365 Days of Photography

5-14-2014

Other photographers can be so inspiring.  Today’s shot was inspired by my photographer friend Kevin, who is doing the 365 project with me.  He posts to the facebook 365 page that we created.  He was expressing his love of macro photography and whilst talking to him, I thought of capturing this.

In this case a money macro – the twenty (20) dollar bill of Trinidad and Tobago.  The bills of Trinidad and Tobago are different by color.  $1 – red, $5 – green, $10 – gray, $20 – purple and $100 – blue.  The hundred dollar bill is fondly called a ‘blue note’ by nationals.  In choosing a bill, I noticed that each bill depicted a different bird and on the flip side had some cultural representation of our twin isle.  I chose the $20 for its depiction of the steel pan.  I also did a few macro shots of the bird, and in the $20 case, it’s one of the hummingbirds, as Trinidad and Tobago is known as ‘the islands of the hummingbirds’.
