“Stay at the side of the
pool. Hang from your arms, keep your
feet straight, bend your knees bringing your feet backward in a ninety degree
angle, circle your legs making the biggest circle possible, bring them back together. Keeping your feet flat allows your feet to
become a paddle to push the water. This
kick is not to be done with speed like the flutter kick, no it’s a power kick,
less is more, you have to remember to keep your feet under the water and make
the biggest circle possible whilst keeping your feet flat, toes not pointed”. Says the instructor, all the kids looking on
in utter disdain, “do what with our feet?”, says the looks of puzzlement on all
the children’s faces (my daughter in yellow hat, included).
Something so simple can
sound so difficult when described without demonstration.
“You with the red hat (my
son), demonstrate, no, no, not like that, make a big circle, you others pay
attention!”
