Day 13 - 365 Days of Photography

1-13-2014

Monday mornings, come every week with a feeling of anxiety, to be up in time to make it out the door, without forgetting anything.  Rising early, preparing breakfast and lunch to be carded off, and hustling each child to be ready on time for school.  Eating, brushing of teeth, showering, combing of hair, did you use deodorant?  Did you apply lotion?  Did you use sun block on your face? Did you pack your bag for today’s timetable?  All, repetitive questions with the hope that it would sink in one day and no longer need to be asked.  The role of parent, ever teaching, ever guiding, ever preparing, all towards bright futures or the hope there of. Today like any other Monday came quickly.  Today represents readiness and being on time.  Combing of hair, on point!  The art of braiding….

  2. This is so traditionally embedded within our island culture. I am tempted to dub it as anxious parenting, not a bad thing by no means.
We all suffer this as parents, yet we were annoyed at our parents, for their seemingly over the top concerns. It's as you hinted, our turn as parents to pave the way, for our children.
It's looking your best while doing your best. That's what goes through the mind of the parent, as each braid is completed.
