Tobago!!!

Another life friend of mine shares some of the same interests (photography) as I do and has expressed a travelling desire to me.  We decided that we should make a trip to Tobago together.  She, her husband, me, my husband, my children and my mother were going to take this trip right after my husband and I returned from England.  She knew of a place in Black Rock, Tobago that was affordable with just the right space to cater to our needs.  We made the arrangements and decided to go for four days via the ‘fast’ ferry so that we could take our vehicles.   The ferry ride up was uneventful, except after I went to the bathroom and had to cross over someone’s puke in the aisle.  From that point on I had to fight my churning stomach as the taste of salt and bile kept surfacing to my tongue and was so happy when the ship ported.  We had arrived.  It’s time to drive off this ship and make it around our beautiful sister island, Tobago.  We drove to Pigeon Point, to see if any of the fishermen were out and purchase our first fresh seafood to be cooked later on for lunch.  We were successful and fish was bought.  We drove up to Black Rock.  We rented three rooms in all, each room had its own kitchenette and bathroom, very neat little setup, we were delighted.  We went back out that evening to Mount Irvine beach and took a bath, staying long enough to capture the sun going down and it’s shimmering light display on the water.  Day two more cooking, eating and sea bathing, we went to Mount Irvine again.  Day three, we stopped at the beach at Black Rock, drove through Plymouth, stopped at the mystery tomb and Fort James and then made our way north up the western coast to Castara.  Castara is in the beautiful mountain region connected via winding roads cut through the hills.  You travel up, up, up, along a winding mountainous road not knowing where you would end up until you come around a bend and you are confronted by one of the most magnificent views of the bay beneath, this part of the island is often forgotten, it is in the north western part of the island, and one of the few left untouched places where you can revel amongst the villagers.  There you will find an old fashioned earth stove, where local bakers make breads and pastries, for sale on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  We frolicked in the water and then walked to a local waterfall.  The men once again secured fresh fish from the local fishermen for our next meal.  Day four and final day, we go to Store Bay to take the glass bottom boat out through the corals to the Nylon Pool and stop at No Man’s Land where hot and cold water mingle on the shores.  Please enjoy the visual display of our trip below.
