Silhouette

I wanted to toy with this side profile and back light it, thus casting shadow on the image.  I toyed with the processing to darken my subject even more to get the effect that I wanted.  This is my daughter.

p.s. When I went to upload this image my computer crashed.  I spent last night and this morning trouble shooting, glad that it’s back up and running.  I had to pull the memory “SMH”.

A few shots around the Dam!

A dam is a barrier that impounds water or underground streams. Dams generally serve the primary purpose of retaining water, while other structures such as floodgates or levees (also known as dikes) are used to manage or prevent water flow into specific land regions. Hydropower and pumped-storage hydroelectricity are often used in conjunction with dams to generate electricity. A dam can also be used to collect water or for storage of water which can be evenly distributed between locations - Wikipedia

The dams that I was exposed to while living in the states were void of fauna except on the outskirts.  I was amazed to see the growth in the dam here and to hear of the prey that lived in the water.  After all this was supposed to be drinking water for the neighborhood.  In the midst of it all, there is beauty still to be seen.

Southern Lapwing (Vanellus chilensis) is a wader in the order Charadrilformes.  It is the only crested wader in South America. The upperparts are mainly brownish grey, with a bronze glossing on the shoulders.  The head is particularly striking, mainly grey with a black forehead and throat patch extending onto the black breast. A white border separates the black of the face from the grey of the head and crest.  The rest of the underparts are white, and the eye ring, legs and most of the bill are pink.  The rump is white and the tail black. It’s call is loud and harsh.

These are some other shots of same birds, that highlight the colors and personality described above.  I chose the above image because of clarity in focus.  The last image would've been best if it were clearer.

Nelumbo Lutea (Also known as American Lotus, Yellow Lotus, Water-chinquapin, volee’ and shower flower) Part 3

Third phase of the Nelumbo Lutea, and in this picture, you can see where the name ‘Shower Flower’ came from.  It shows the inner parts shaped like a shower head, in bokeh background, you can see remnants of the dried version as the stem that has now withered and broken, having the ‘shower like head’ bent downwards.  These flowers are used in wedding cake decorations.

Nelumbo Lutea Part 2
