Day 5 – 365 Days of Photography

Vision, foresight, planning, mission, goals, reality, all within reach, within scope, and within sight.

Look through my eyes, as I attempt to show you what I see.

What is sight?

-    The power or faculty of seeing; perception of objects by use of the eyes; vision

-    An act, fact, or instance of seeing

-    One’s range of vision on some specific occasion

-    A view; a glimpse

-    Mental perception or regard; judgment

By token of description, what I photograph and how I depict it is just a capture of my sight, my perception, my vision, my eye. 

This is what separates each photographer / human being, because we all perceive differently, therefore our images are portrayed differently.   As you travel life’s byways and converse with your fellow man, often times you may notice or observe something in the immediate neighborhood of your conversation and when mentioned, the other didn’t see the same thing.  A mere example of how we each see differently.  Even when you do see the same things, your attention to detail differs, one may see all colors, one may see actions, or composites.  We learn to appreciate the differences in each other and embrace the vision.

Today I bring you my vision.

Day 4 – 365 Days of Photography

1-4-2014

This morning I went to my God parents home.  My God father presented me with a lime.  It was 'humungous', bigger than my hand.  I asked him what type of lime it was, he just looked at me, smiled and said “a lime”.  It’s yellow in color and looks more like a native of the lemon family.

I thought it fitting that I should capture an image of it for the world to see.  

I would think that it is grafted with another fruit.  I took a picture of it next to a lime, so that you can see the vast difference.

He told me that when I am going to use it, that I should place it in the microwave as it is hard and that way, heating it up yields more juice.  I suspect that I can make an entire mug of juice from this one fruit.

I captured this image, by placing light on the side of the fruit that would not be illuminated by my flash, thus depicting the roundness of the fruit.

I call today, “juicy”.

Day 3 – 365 Days of Photography

1-3-2014

Today the creative juices really started flowing.

I was thinking of what I could do to capture another image, one that displayed my mood. 

I finished another module of my advanced diploma in photography and the topic was lighting.  However, I set out to capture water, moving over black tile.   The white walls didn’t render the image I wanted. 

So I moved on to bouncing balls.  I had balls going everywhere, I had my daughter assist with props, slowed the shutter speed and she released a torrent of balls, balls were going everywhere, and I got some nice shots, but I wasn’t satisfied, after all I really wasn’t in a ballsy mood, *smile*.

 

I then decided to setup my tripod at the stove and capture the flame under the pot of brewing soup, a soup made from the turkey bone, pieces of the roast beef and ham all from Christmas.

I went to put the clothes into the dryer and put a fresh load of clothes in, and my eye’s fell on the vacuum cleaner.   Alas my next image was born.

Day 2 – 365 Days of Photography

1-2-2014

I went into my son Kristian’s toy box and got out a few toy cars.  I wiped down a black surface and got a big white page out of my daughters drawing book.   Back lighting, spot lighting with toy finger lights and the dull images came to life.   I then played with ISO, using highest option on camera, changed aperture to increase depth in field, stepped back so that I was in focus (used prime lens).

I smiled when I saw what I had captured.  Hope you like it too

Day 1 - 365 Days of Photography

Day 1 – 365 Days of Photography

I have decided to embark on a photographic journey, and through it I hope to learn new things about myself, my camera and my creative eye.  I hope to learn technique, composition, lighting and thus express my craft in a new way, bringing scenes to you that would maybe interest you in placing on your walls.

It was difficult deciding which photo to display.  I was out and about yesterday and captured some beautiful portraits of random people as well as a gorgeous scenery. I chose this one only because I put thought and effort into the composition and lighting when shooting it this morning.

I thank you for all who have encouraged me, and will follow me as I embark on this journey.

Any and all prints will be available for purchase.

I've invited fellow photographers to embark on this project with me and I have created a facebook page where we will all be posting daily.
